TiVo for Radio

by GadgetManiac on April 6, 2004

PoGo Products’ Radio YourWay AM/FM Radio Recorder is a pocket radio whose main feature is support for scheduled digital recording of AM and FM broadcasts. The $200 version of this device lets you record 18 hours of audio. The quality of recorded talk shows is acceptable; the quality of recorded music, however, could be improved. This lack of music quality seems to be due to the low sampling rate of about 20KHz, which is less than ½ the rate of MP3s.

Somewhat of a unique product, in that most radio recorders do not support scheduling, while those that do, such as Replay-Radio mostly require connection to a PC.

There doesn’t seem to be a lot of demand for radio recording devices, although it seems like it would be a great idea.

TiVo for radio was a good idea. Does it come in an app today? Now that smartphones receive radio stations from all over the world, I think this app could come in handy.
