Toshiba V401T TV Cell Phone

by GadgetManiac on April 7, 2004

The V401T is the first cell phone with a analog TV tuner, QVGA resolution, with up to 12 minutes of program recording time, + an FM radio. At 30 frames/second and 320×240, viewing should be quite good. Recording at 7.5 fps and 160×120 will last for about 8 minutes with the 24MB of memory. Announced today (7Apr), it goes on sale next month.

The NEC V601N, announced last year, was actually the first to market with an embedded TV tuner. The V601N however, had a lower resolution & frame-rate, and did not support full-motion recording (image capture only) – no FM radio.

In my house, this revolution was a mixed blessing at best.
