Digeo Moxi DVR for HDTV

by GadgetManiac on May 12, 2004

DVR pioneers TiVo & ReplayTV got some competition 2 weeks ago when Comcast, the biggest cable provider, announced plans to try out about 200,000 of the Digeo Moxi media centers in some cities this year.

The Moxi has an excellent feature set, namely 2-tuner DVR, HDTV and network support, 80 GB HDD, and an optional DVD/CD player.

Some are predicting the demise of TiVo: “If you go out to 2005 and 2006, this Digeo product is likely to be the dominant cable box for digital video recording,” stated Josh Bernoff, of Forrester Research.

Others are predicting the demise of the Moxi, apparently because it is too complex and feature rich. See this Moxi Will Fail article.

The name “TiVo” does have an early 2000′s kind of ring to it nowadays.

I know Arris acquired Digeo a while back, but what’s happened to this DVR since then?
