The Gibbs Aquada can exceed 100mph on land, and thanks to its amphibious design, can do 30mph on water. While on land, power comes from a MG-Rover 2.5-liter V-6 at 175hp. In order to move from land to water, just press a switch, and the wheels retract automatically when the Aquada senses there is no load on the wheels. While on water, power is from an impeller-driven water jet rated at 100 cubic metres of water per minute.
Under development for 7 years, and with 60 patents, it retails for about $225,000usd.
Update for Monday June 14, 2004 : Sir Richard Branson CEO of The Virgin Group just used an Aquada to set a new record for the fastest crossing of the English Channel by an amphibious vehicle. His time was one hour and 40 minutes.

Imagine doing a hundred miles on land and plunging into the water. What a thrill that would be.
This vehicle could change an entire way of life for people who live on islands.
I’m still waiting for an affordable amphibious vehicle. It’ll make vacationing at the lake much more exciting.
