I was amazed to see that someone had built a robot that solves the 3x3x3 Rubik’s Cube.

The solution involves a Lego® Mindstorms base, 3 arms for grasping and turning the cube faces, a Logitech Quick Cam to scan the cube faces and recognize the colors, and some VB code to control the arms & interface to the camera. The robot usually finds a solution in 30 moves or less.
J.P. Brown, the developer has a website that contains more details as well as links to videos.

Have they ever set up human vs. robot Rubik’s competitions?
I’d like to see a robot that can build things out of Legos. Now that would be fun to watch.
