Akimbo Systems Inc. will launch their new Internet Video-On-Demand service in October.
Subscribers will be able to select programming to be downloaded via a broadband Internet connection onto the Akimbo Player’s 80-gigabyte hard drive, which Akimbo says will hold about 200 hours of video. The player costs $229.99 and requires a monthly subscription fee of $9.99.
Akimbo will provide a library of 20,000 hours of video from 50 content providers, including CinemaNow a film library said to contain over 4,000 films.

$10 is a great price for all those films; I wish something like that were still available.
Yeah, the Akimbo Internet TV was ambitious. And it looks like 2012 may be the year that Internet TV finally hits the big time.
