CompactFlash Cards, Sturdiness of

The Flash Card industry must have its PR department working overtime. This is the 2nd or 3rd survivability story in the last little while.

News.com is reporting that reporter Don Frazier’s camera was destroyed by an explosion at a demolition site, but the 256MB SanDisk CompactFlash card used in the camera survived. They offer the following image as proof.

what if the flash card hadn’t been inside the camera? would it have been intact then?
