There’s a mildly interesting project going on over at Degree Confluence. They have people going around the world guided by GPS receivers and with digital cameras, taking images of those places where an integer degree of latitude meets an integer degree of longitude (e.g. 24°00’00″North & 27°00’00″East). Seems to be a kind of low-key version of geocaching for people with too much time on their hands.
In case you’ve ever wondered, the view from 24°N & 27°E looks like this:

There are 21,541 confluences on the planet that are on dry land. Someone’s visited and photographed about 15% of them.

That’s what my wife calls most of my projects and hobbies, too: “mildly interesting.”
