PLAY research studio in Sweden has developed some Wi-Fi connected pillows that glow.
When one of a pair of pillows is leaned on or touched, the pattern on the other pillow activates and glows … thanks to electroluminescent wiring.
Why? you may ask. Well, the studio puts it this way: “Expand the vocabulary for remote communications through tangible and aesthetic interaction”. I don’t know what that means either.

I don’t know how much extra I’d be willing to pay for WiFi to make my pillows glow.
I’d hate to be awakened in the middle of the night by my pillows suddenly illuminating at full blast.
When it came to buying pillows, I always tried to find comfortable ones. I never considered their “tangible and aesthetic interaction.”
