The idea of the space elevator crops up in the news every so often. Its the same story every time: we don’t have the technology yet, but it will be a cost-effective way to get payloads into space. .
I’m sure it’s going to hurt if / when that thing ever collapses, and falls back to earth. Nice-looking graphic though.

I’d never heard of this before. It’s an odd idea, but I’d love to see it work out.
Remember the elevator at the end of “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory?” Same basic idea.
