Watch DVDs on your Smartphone or PDA (sort of)

by GadgetManiac on August 3, 2004

Makayama Software offers a product that converts DVDs into a size/format that will work with a Pocket PC or mobile phone.
DVD movie on a mobile phone
Their website states that:

“A memorycard as small as 128 Mb is sufficient to store a full length feature film, up to a hundred minutes. Take your DVDs on the plane, train or automobile, watch them on vacation, at work or at school. With only two clicks, this PC software converts the content of your DVD to a super small movie file, which will play on any Windows Smartphone device on a postage stamp size memory card. Using MPEG4 encoding, feature films look crisp and sharp on your cellular phone and still fit on a relatively small Secure Digital card. On a 512 SD card, you can even crunch 4 films”.

Interesting product – wonder how well it works in practise.

Yes, this was a great idea for a time when mobile entertainment was so much less developed.
