JVC has just announced (2 a.m. today) their brand new world’s first 1in hard disk based camcorders. The “Everio” comes in 2 flavors: the GZ-MC100 and the GZ-MC200, referred to as the “pocket style” and the “grip style” respectively.

Both models record to a 1inch 4GB hard disk. The unit can capture approximately 60 minutes of Ultra Fine (9Mbps) video at 720×480 pixels. Or it can record 5595 images at a size of 1600 × 1200 pixels at Fine quality. Or the unit can save 320 minutes of 48kHz/16bit stereo sound.

Success, in my view, is the willingness to strive for something you really want. The person not reaching the top is no less a success than the one who achieved it, if they both sweated blood, sweat and tears and overcame obstacles and fears. The failure to be perfect does not mean you’re not a success.
It doesn’t seem so long ago that I was taking home movies with a giant camcorder perched on my shoulder.
