National Swimming Center – 2008 Beijing Olympics

The swimming events for the Beijing Olympics 2008 will be held in the National Swimming Center, aka, The Water Cube.

The Water Cube is a unique building. The skin is will be made from an innovative and lightweight transparent ‘teflon’ called ETFE. Water fills the soap-bubble structures that make up the walls giving it a striking appearance.

This buildig was quite an accomplishment. I love architecture that uses water in unique ways.
