Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. released the PlayStation Portable today.

This is Sony’s 1st foray into the portable game market, which DFC Intelligence estimates will increase in sales from $3.9 billion worldwide in 2003 to $11.1 billion in 2007.

32MB memory 4.3 inch, 16:9 widescreen TFT LCD screen at 480×272 pixel 16M colors 802.11b Wi-Fi UMD (Universal Media Disc) optical medium at 1.8GB capacity
The battery life is 4-6 hours depending on the game, brightness etc. Scattered reports on SPOnG have a range of 3-6 hours.

My favorite portable game system of all time was the Sega Game Gear. Anyone remember that baby?
For pure nostalgia, I’ll always love the Game Boy. But Sony’s portable gaming devices have been outstanding.
