The 2005 CES has announced the 29 winners of their “Best of Innovations Honorees”. The complete list can be found this link. The following award winner caught my attention:
XM NavTraffic is the first satellite traffic information service that enables a vehicle’s on-board navigation system to display current traffic information for a driver’s chosen route.
NavTraffic displays real-time scheduled and unscheduled traffic incident data, such as road construction & accidents, and traffic flow information from road sensors and suggestions for alternate routes…cool.
Sidebar:
Most of the other category winners seems pretty lame, such as: the KX-TG2386 cordless phone from Panasonic, and the usual assortment of LCD monitors and home entertainment systems. The RCA Scenium Profiles HD61THW263 won in its category of Digital Displays, despite a review in CNET that described the model as having “Inaccurate color decoding”.
And then there’s the WinPad from FingerWorks, that won in the category of Computer Accessories. It looks good, but I generally don’t like to use these types of input devices.
