Samsung 21-inch OLED TV

by GadgetManiac on January 4, 2005

Samsung Electronics announced today, that it has developed a 21inch single-panel active matrix-based OLED display for TVs, capable of displaying 6.22 million pixels.

The unit has an amazing contrast ratio of 5,000:1. The brightness is very good at 1,000 nit. Pixel response time was not specified, but the signal response time is “More than 1,000 times faster than existing LCD monitors.”

Now if they can bring the cost down and improve the OLED element lifetimes, this technology should sweep aside the LCD.
