World’s First MP3 player

by GadgetManiac on January 25, 2005

Eiger Labs MPMan F20. The MPMan F20 has 32MB of memory, weighs 60g, and measures 70x91x18mm.Many have made, and some have disputed, the assertion that the first MP3 player was the Diamond Multimedia Rio PMP300.

Now, CNET has an article stating that the world’s 1st MP3 player was, in fact, the Eiger Labs MPMan…beating out the Rio PMP300 by a few months back in 1998.

…Adds fuel to the controversy of whether or not it’s best to be first into a market.

I really like that proverb. A great piece of wisdom to reflect on when you consider the ease of living so many enjoy today.

I think it’s best to be first in a market simply for the satisfaction, and to go down in history.
