The 3GSM World Congress 2005 opens in Cannes France tomorrow.

As with all trade shows, they are wont to hand out some awards. In the category of Best Mobile Handset, their nominees are :

• Motorola RAZR V3, and the probable winner.
  
• The BlackBerry 7100 series
• Sony Ericsson P910
• Siemens SK65
• Samsung SGH-D500

And, as promoter and supporter of all things GSM, the GSM Association will also be handing out some GSM-specific awards. In the category of Best 3GSM Handset, their nominees are :

• LG U8120
• Fujitsu Foma F900i
• Sony Ericsson V800/Vodafone 802SE
• Samsung SGH-Z107
• Sharp 902SH
  
• Vodafone Live! 3G terminals portfolio

The last bullet refers to a grouping of ten 3GSM (W-CDMA) handsets from seven different manufacturers. One of those 10 phones is the ‘not-bad’ Sharp VF 902SH, and is shown above. The specs for the 902SH include the following :

• Tri band GSM mobile phone with Bluetooth
• 2.4 inch QVGA main display with swivel screen
• 2 Megapixel camera with 2x optical zoom
• MP3 player
• 8 MB of memory with an SD memory card slot
