Operate Your PC via Phone

Hitachi released a new version of μVNC a few days ago. μVNC, for ‘Virtual Network Computer’, is desktop software which supports operation of a Personal Computer from a remote device such as a PDA or a mobile phone. On the server side μVNC can support Windows XP/2000/NT/Me/98, Linux/FreeBSD and Mac OS X. On the client side, Hitachi offers versions of μVNC for BREW-enabled CDMA phones, J2ME (MIDP 2.0) phones, as well as phones running on Symbian. Product announcement. VNC Ops Manual. I hadn’t seen a μ before–it’s the 12th letter of the Greek alphabet, mu. I think Hitachi got a little obscure with this name–you can’t type it on a standard English keyboard!

just shows you how times have changed in a few short years. now, instead of being able to operate your PC via phone, your phone is your PC!
