Samsung announced today that it has developed the world’s largest TFT-LCD panel at 82 inches [that's 1,870,200 square mm]. 
Beats the 65-inch LCD from Sharp announced just last October. The TV will not be available for about 18 months. Samsung flat screen looms large - CNet announcement

The 2000′s were basically a decade of TV set size records consistently being shattered.
And as a fan of big TV’s, I loved every minute of it.
