Intel Dual-Core Pentium Machines

Velocity Micro has announced the first PC’s based on Intel?s new dual core processors. The product line is called the DCX line, is based on the Intel Extreme Edition 840 processor, and will operate at speeds up to 4 GHz. Velocity Raptor Extreme Edition When air-cooled, the CPU runs at 3.2GHz ; use of the optional LiquiCool fluid cooling system pushes the system speed up to 4GHz. The DCX series comes in 4 models, will be available in 2Q and priced at about $3900. The EE840 has a 2MB L2 cache (1MB per core), is based on 90nm technology and contains about 230M transistors. It’s amazing how much faster you can get your computer to run with LiquiCool. Seems well worth it.
