Rocket Racing League Blasts Off

by GadgetManiac on October 4, 2005

The Rocket Racing League was launched today. Pilots will race rocket planes over a course about two miles long, one mile wide, and one mile high for the coveted X PRIZE Cup in New Mexico once a year. These rocket planes will be based on the design of the XCOR Aerospace EZ-Rocket shown below. XCOR EZ-Rocket X-Racers, as these craft are to be called, will be fuelled by isopropyl alcohol and LOX. The RRL seems to have come up with an entirely new genre: “Aerospace Entertainment”. It’ll be interesting to see how this turns out.
