Sharp million to one contrast ratio LCD The new Mega-Contrast Advanced Super View (ASV) Premium LCD monitor from Sharp has an unprecedented one million to one contrast ratio. With most contrast ratios trundling along in the range of hundreds or thousands-to-one, one might expect that Sharp’s claims for this new technology are either inflated or represent some kind of tech breakthrough. Many people must have smacked their foreheads when they heard that Sharp reduced the minimum luminance to improve its contrast ratio and yelled, “Now why didn’t I think of that?”
