Sony Ericsson announced the P990 today. The P990 is a Wi-Fi enabled 3G (UMTS) smartphone. The screen is now 2.8 inch with QVGA resolution, the autofocus flash digital camera now has a resolution of 2MP and memory has been increased to 80MB. The device operates on Symbian OS 9.1, has a full Opera 8 web browser and sports an FM/RDS radio. Other functions include SMS, MMS and email messaging, Push email, viewers for Excel, Word, Powerpoint and PDF, as well as editors for Excel and Word formatted files, not to mention the QWERTY keyboard. The included media player supports playback and streaming of MP3 and MP4 files. Throw in a VPN client and a (trial) virus scan package, and you’ve virtually got a full-featured phone.
