PC World has just published their list of the top fifty gadgets of the past 50 years. In their view, the greatest gadget in 5 decades is the Sony Walkman TPS-L2 cassette player dating back to 1979. The top ten gadgets are listed below:

4. PalmPilot 1000
5. Sony CDP-101
6. Motorola StarTAC
7. Atari Video Computer System

PCW’s most recent greatest gadget is the 2004 Motorola Razr V3, which appears at number 12 … guess they didn’t like anything from 2005.

I love the Walkman, but I don’t know if it’s one of the greatest gadgets of the last 50 years.
i think it IS one of the 50 greatest gadgets, but i’m not sure i’d place it ahead of the ipod or some of these other things.
