In a bit of old news, the Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder has been proclaimed the World’s Most Beautiful Car for 2005, in the sports car category. The Spyder beat out the Aston Martin V8 Vantage by a mere 2 points…should’ve been more.
The L’automobile più bella del mondo award, as it’s called in Italian, is organized and run by Automobilia. Winners in other categories are listed here.
The Spyder is heavy at 3461 lbs; it’s 5L V10 engine produces 520 hp, for a PWR of 6.7 lbs per hp…good, but not great.

I THINK I SAW ONE OF THESE BEAUTIES THIS LAST WEEK IN SICILY. THE PICTURES DOES NOT DO JUSTICE AS TO THE ELEGANT PROPORTIONS. LIKE A GOOD LOOKING BIRD, IT LOOKS GOOD FROM ALL ANGELS-ESPECIALLY THE REAR.<br />

HAVING SEEN ONE I DEFINATELY WOULD NOT WANT TO OWN ONE. ONE OF MY DISTANT BUDDIES HAS ONE AND GOT A FLAT TIRE. THE REPLACEMENT TIRE WAS $1,200. <br />

LET US JUST SAY THIS IS THE ULTIMATE BAD BOY MACHINE, AND DOING IIT N WHITE HELPS BUT DOES NOT OBVIATE THE RATHER CLEAR META MESSAGE THIS AUTO CONVEYS. IN ITALY IS DECIDEDLY “THE ULTIMATE”.

And if this makes you more excited, the new Lamborghini Gallardo gets wings. It comes equipped with scissor doors that swivel up; its setup allows the doors to open up and out. It is being offered by Germany Hamann Motorsport as a new tuning package for the Lamborghini Gallardo that links the supercar more closely with the classic Countach and the more recent Diablo and Murciélago models. <br />
