Samsung’s LED-based rear projection 1080p HDTV, the model HL-S5679W, became available today. The price is $3999 as reported by one of our readers, not $4,200 reported previously on this site. Another diff from before is that Samsung reports the contrast as being 4000:1 instead of the 10000:1 that we made note of. Thx to John!
The aforementioned LED backlighting allows the set to deliver about 120% of the NTSC color gamut – quite good.
