We last made note of extended warranties just about a year ago, and stated that they were a waste of money in most circumstances.
The Washington Post has a new article that basically reinforces that stance: they suggest that when standing in the checkout line with your shiny new gadget under your arm and they ask you for an extra 30% in order to extended that manufacturer’s warranty by a few years, just say no. Why?…things are built better these days and if they’re going to break, they’ll probably break in the first little while. The Post does make note of a few exceptions to the rule, such as fax machines.

Limited warranties are the worst. Good luck getting back any money with one of those!
