Motley Fool CAPS – Social Stock Rating

by GadgetManiac on October 4, 2006

Motley Fool, that oddly-but-effectively-named stock market advisory service has just launched CAPS, which is intended to be a place for investors to track the accuracy of other investor’s predictions. Players, er investors, are ranked according to their performance, and the consensus opinions of thousands of CAPSters are available, along with other features of the service.

The most widely followed stock seems to be MSFT, (current quote 27.94) with the overwhelming sentiment being that Microsoft will outperform the S&P over the next year or so.

The top-ranked player (1st out of 8017) and with an accuracy rating of 74% goes by the handle TMFEldrehad – he’s got about 173 stocks in his portfolio and seems to like, among other things, Japanese auto makers.

Interestingly, Jim Cramer, he of Mad Money fame, is also tracked, but he doesn’t seem to be doing so well.
