More 3-D Movies in the Works

March 30th, 2007

By GadgetManiac

3D movie glassesJeffrey Katzenberg, he of DreamWorks Animation, predicts a big future for 3-D movies. Katzenberg sez that 3-D movies will be a tremendous business opportunity for movie studios, that moviegoers will be willing to pay a 50% premium over conventional movie prices, and that movies shot in 3-D will be much more difficult to pirate.

Apparently many major motion picture studios are preparing big budget 3-D movie releases, and so it looks likes we’re all going to be wearing those goofy glasses in the future.

Wonderful news for all 3-D enthousiasts and 3-D film producers. Let’s hope it creates a current that will carry an independent wave of 3-D movies as well, and not just the massive studio productions. The best way for 3-D indies to stand out from the below-average mainstream 3-D product is to be different and damn good. So using 3-D for what is can do and creating a new 3-D film language. Currently, there is no such thing and subsequently, 3-D movies are all over the place in terms of use of 3-D.
