Apple TV

by GadgetManiac on March 21, 2007

Apple TVGadget reviewer Walt Mossberg reviews the Apple TV set-top box in a new article today – he likes it. The device grabs digital content like movies, TV shows, music, podcasts and photos wirelessly from up to 6 computers, organizes it and then sends it off to your widescreen TV by wire, for your viewing enjoyment. Walt sez it’s “for people who are yearning for a simple way to show on their big TVs all that stuff trapped on their computers”.

Apple TV doesn’t do cable or satellite television. The built-in 40GB disk stores content locally. $299.

I can’t imagine a TV coming out today that doesn’t “do cable,” but otherwise this sounds very promising.

This seems like the one Apple product that hasn’t caught fire, at least not yet.
