Well, the Photo Marketing Association Convention and Trade Show is on now in Vegas, and thankfully they’ve shortened it to the moniker: PMA 07.
While the main focus of the show is cameras, and lots of them, many if not most, e.g. the Canon EOS-1D Mark III have been pre-announced, so not many surprises there.
PMA notes that, while digital camera sales are up nicely this past year, fewer of us (you know who you are) are making prints of those photos. Apparently 21% of households do NOT print their images, which is double the rate for 2005…guess they’re using digital picture frames, or more likely just viewing the pictures via the camera’s display. If that trend continues, they may well discontinue their annual Best Digital Printer awards…
The winners of the DIMA 2007 Digital Printer Shoot-Out were announced at PMA 07 yesterday. 23 winners were announced in various categories, with the HP Photosmart D7360 winning in the Inkjet, 8.5 inches wide or less category.
