Makita MR100 Ruggedized Radio

Makita MRr100Makita, that manufacturer of power tools and the like, has introduced the MR100 waterproof radio selling for $170.

Receives AM/FM – the rechargeable Li-Ion battery lasts for 16 hours in the rain.

Suprisingly, the device has neither an iPod dock nor 8-track support.

No word on what height the MR100 can be dropped onto a concrete floor from, but looks to be about 1-2 feet largely bec of the protruding antenna … might be a wuss in ruggedized clothing.

Ah, the antenna–the Achilles heel of so many otherwise rugged products.
