Socket Mobile 650

Socket Mobile SoMo 650It seems that nobody bothered telling these folks that the PDA was obsolete, living on borrowed time, a dead man walking, the 8-track tape of our time, etc., but…

Socket Mobile has introduced a new PDA, called the SoMo 650. On the downside, the unit has no GPS, uses the older Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 and is a handheld.

On the plus side, the 650 has WiFi, Bluetooth, support for peripheral devices such as RFID & scanners, a touch screen and it’s ruggedized.

$650.

…well, actually they refer to the device as a mobile computer instead of a PDA, so I guess they’re in the clear.

I like the phrase “the eight-track of our time.” I’ve been in relationships where I’ve felt like that myself.

This device should’ve come with a warning: ” ‘Mobile computer’ may be a euphamism for ‘mobile device.’ “
