Sony NW-A808 Video Walkman

by GadgetManiac on March 1, 2007

Sony NW-A800 Sony has just offically announced their new line of music players, the NW-A800 series, which consists of 3 models. The priciest one is the line NW-A808, with a capacity of 8GB of flash memory. They weigh in at 53 grams and 88×43.8×9.1 mm, which makes them beefier than the Apple iPod nano, with which they are presumed to compete.

Part of the increased size is due to the 240×320 QVGA screen (the nano screen is 176×132) which provides video playback at 30 frames-per-second.

The usual audio and video formats are supported…but it must be tough to watch more than, say, 30 minutes of video on a 2 inch QVGA screen. Battery life for music playback is good at 30 hours.

Imagine if they’d had video Walkmans back in the 80′s! What a craze that would have been.

I don’t think society was ready for video Walkmans back then. There probably would’ve been rioting in the streets.
