Writing an Exam? …avoid the color Red

by GadgetManiac on March 23, 2007

If you have an exam, or an IQ test (do they still have those?) coming up, then there’s a psychologist who has some words of advice for you…avoid looking at anything red just beforehand. According to a study, even a short perception of red initiates avoidance behaviour and sends test scores plummeting.

This suggests a tactic for improving your relative score…

Using green-colored glasses for self-protection, sit at the front of the hall & mess with the other test-takers’ cortical activation levels by wearing a bright red shirt.

…just kidding…that would be unethical, wouldn’t it?

Or you could just walk around with a green blindfold on and have a friend guide you to the test room.

I think IQ tests have become more of an Internet game at this point.

I’m glad IQ tests have faded. I’d be afraid to see my score.
