Panasonic’s HDC-SD1 high-definition camcorder was announced back in November 2006, and is just now becoming available. The SD1 records onto SD cards – the included 4GB card holds about 1 hour of 1080i video. The camcorder also employs a 3CCD imaging system, which is supposed to result in better detail and more accurate colors, as compared to those cheapo CCD systems. Akihabara News had a look at the HDC-SD1, and gave it a rating of 9/10.

Akihabara liked the SD1′s low size & weight and video quality – and less so, the poor low light performance and its use of the relatively unknown & not-widely-used ACVHD hi-def codec.

This device looks a little long to me, although its specs are certainly impressive.
