LG Watch Phones as seen at CES 2008

Although LG provided a glimpse of their interesting new Watch Phone while at CES 2008, they were quite Zen-like in their 411. All that’s known is that the thing makes phone calls, tells time, has some PDA functions, fits on the wrist, looks spiffy if bulky…what more could one ask for? The concept device apparently has a jog dial, Bluetooth, text-to-speech etc & seems stuck twixt vaporware and beta.

For some reason watch phones never got off the ground. Maybe they seem to cartoony–people might think the idea of talking to your wrist like Dick Tracy is laughable.

I don’t think we’ll ever see this technology take off. Too bad, it would save the wristwatch from extinction.
