At Macworld 2008 today, Apple introduced their latest laptop, the MacBook Air - billed as the world’s thinnest notebook. The thing tapers from 0.76-inches at the back to a ginormous 0.16 inches at the front…for an average thickness of 0.46 inches or 11.68 mm. The Air measures 12.8×8.94 inches and weighs 3 lbs or 1.36 kg…thinnest it is, but not the lightest. $1,799+.
Some other good features of the MacBook Air include a 13.3 inch 1280×800 LED-backlit display, optional 64GB solid-state drive, 5-hour battery life & the lack of Hg and As make the Air less eco-unfriendly.
The laptop computer as an appliance…notebooks distilled to their essence…what the non-professional requires…Zen-like minimalism…legacy-free.

To me, lighter is better than thinner — not that I’m one to argue with Steve Jobs or anything.
