Microvision Show Pico Projector

Microvision Show projector shown with an iPodMost projectors are kind of lame & could be viewed as aiding and abetting ‘death by powerpoint’. We do our best to ignore them, but the Microvision Show, shown at CES 2008, seems interesting. The Show Pico Projector is a hand-held, battery powered, RGB laser projector capable of throwing a 848×480 image onto a surface up to 10 feet away. $200-300. MVIS is working with MOT to embed the things into Motorola phones in about 2009. Good as a second display or for showing iPod videos or augmented reality apps. Details re their Bi-axial MEMS Scanning Mirror thing at the link below.

This product does look exciting. You mentioned that projectors are lame, but I always liked projectors. Maybe that’s because my fourth-grade teacher used projectors a lot, and she was really cute!

Yes, I think with creativity and vision a person could make a really compelling, un-PowerPoint-like visual presentation.
