BUGbase Roll-Your-Own Gadgets

CNet gave a Best of CES award in the category Emerging Technologies to startup Bug Labs and their BUG platform. BUG consists of the BUGbase minicomputer, into which BUGmodules can be plugged, Lego-like, to make a new gadget. BUGmodules currently consist of a GPS unit, Camera, LCD touchscreen and an Accelerometer. New apps are developed via Java and the BUG SDK.

Cool – we hope the BUG is a success – though it’s somewhat reminiscent of that Seinfeld episode where Kramer has that make-your-own-pizza idea.

…similar to last year’s conceptual Mangini Lobster, pictured above.

I, for one, always thought the make-your-own-pizza idea had huge potential.

i’m too lazy for make-your-own pizza. if i wanted to make my own pizza, i’d stay home.
