SED aka Surface-conduction Electron-emitter Display — the technology that promised so much but delivered so little, may be on its way back. A report in asahi.com entitled Canon SED TV describes how Canon, fed up with litigation by Nano Proprietary, plans to end-run NP’s patents.
About time…we at G-M had just about given up hope for this very promising TV flat-panel display technology.

Wonderful news for Canon and all SED fans. Looking forward to seeing a display model at CES2009

All these SED delays have made us cynical, so we’re tempted to add a few years to CES2009, and now expect to see the new carbon-less prototype TV at CES2012!

Welcome back G-M,
We had missed you. Truly, SED is a very promising technology. On your CES comment, I still believe that it will be sooner.
On that note, will you be in Vegas next week?
