The Open Handset Alliance demo’d its Android mobile phone operating system at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona today. Pocket Lint snagged some pictures of the thing running on some hand-held device powered by an ARM 9 processor.

Pocket-lint was quite positive about Android, saying the interface seemed Apple-like and that it performed quickly.

Was this the first-ever public unveiling of the Android? I wonder if people realized then how popular it would become.

If only I could go back in time and invest in Android before Google bought it out.
