Samsung anounced the Soul mobile hand set at Mobile World Congress 2008.
The Soul is not simply a phone, it’s a mobile lifestyle!
Samsung has this new approach called “Mobile for Every Lifestyle“, wherein all the world (well…the mobile phone world, anyway) is divided into 6 market segments, namely: Style, Business, Infotainment, Multimedia, Connected and, that laggard, Basic.
By way of example, the Samsung i780 with its QWERTY keyboard, push email and GPS, Wi-Fi, GPRS, EDGE, 3G & HSDPA is a natural for the Business category.
And the new Samsung Soul falls under the rubric of Style, what with its fancy TouchWiz navigational pad under the main screen, the brushed metal case and the thin 12.9mm slider design of Ultra Edition heritage. The Soul phone also has a QVGA screen, 7.2 Mbps HSDPA and an autofocus image-stabilized 5MP camera.

Yes, the name Basic does leave something to be desired, especially compared to all those other names.
These days, every mobile phone is a lifestyle much more than a mere device.
