Yahoo! Tech Ticker – New Business Show

February 12th, 2008

By GadgetManiac

Yahoo Tech Ticker with Sarah LacyYahoo! launched Tech Ticker a few days ago – it’s a daily video blog focused on technology investing. TT started Feb 7, 2008, will consist of a number of 3 minute segments featuring news, interviews and opinions with Sarah Lacy, Aaron Task, Henry Blodget, Andy Kessler and their guests. Apparently the motivation for the show’s creation was the high level of interest in technology stocks on Yahoo! Finance, as explained here. …sounds bubblicious.

Yesterday’s episode of Tech Ticker (Feb 11 2008) had Sarah Lacy opine on IT spending projections (modest growth of 2.8-5%), Sunpower’s surge (up 10% based on comments in Barron’s) and the ongoing Yahoo!-Microsoft merger/takeover drama (Valley cheers and Wall St jeers).

Another segment has Jim Cramer offer up 3 things that Yahoo CEO Jerry Yang needs to know about Microsoft’s bid for Yahoo! in general, and CEO Steve Ballmer in particular: namely- he just won’t lose, he delivers and he is willing to take short-term pain for long-term gain. …guess Cramer’s saying that Yang might as well fold his tent.

…looks promising. …Well…as promising as any show that consists of 3 minute sound bites can be. Abstractions, of course, are generalizations whose success & relevance depend upon the skill of the abstractor as well as that of the abstractee.
