If you’re rich, you might be on MySpace

by GadgetManiac on March 12, 2008

Luxury Institute reports that participation in social networking websites by the wealthy has doubled in 2008. Apparently 60% of those with an average income/net-worth worth of $287,000/2,100,000, were busy chating, messaging and emailing their online buds, or so sez Luxury Institute, anyway. Sixteen percent use MySpace, 13% use LinkedIn with 11% for Facebook.

…the LuxInst numbers seem somewhat high, as one would have expected such individuals to be preoccupied with their balance sheets thanks to underperforming portfolios & CDOs in these sub-prime times.

Other tidbits from LI include the fact that the rich prefer Vacheron Constantin over Patek Philippe and Piaget, they like Lexus ahead of Infiniti and Acura and for education they rate MIT tops with Harvard and Yale at second and third.

Thie headline of this post really dates itself! Those were the days, though.

Yeah, I don’t think too many people strike it rich nowadays and then say, “I think I’ll go on MySpace now!”
