Akihabaranews reviews the recently released Sony mylo COM-2 personal communicator.
Akiba liked the 800×480 screen, internet experience, keyboard and the music quality, but lamented the lack of a phone and jogdial and the poor video quality.
…they seem to miss the point of the device which is mostly to allow sub-teens to chat up their peers via Instant Messaging, do some freebie Skype calls, surf the Internets and snap a few pix…all at low cost ie no rate plans.

I think it’s a good idea to have such a device for pre-teens, especially if parents can set safety standards.
a dream come true for many parents these days is to keep down the price of their teens’ calls and chatting.
