YouTube Announces APIs, Surpasses Google, Gets Hulu’d

by GadgetManiac on March 12, 2008

Alexa Top Sites 2008Mar12YouTube just announced YouTube Everywhere, which is a set of APIs and tools that will allow users to upload videos directly to YouTube, and embed content into most any device such as other websites, desktop apps, games, phones, TVs and cameras…’everywhere’, indeed.

In unrelated news, youtube.com has leapfrogged Google to become the 2nd most popular site on the Web, at least according to Alexa – Google falls to number 4…interesting.

[Nielsen NetRatings has a different perspective on web site rankings. The Top 10 Web Sites by Brand for February 2008 were Google with a unique audience of 114,573,000, followed by Yahoo!, Microsoft, MSN, AOL YouTube, Fox, eBay, Wikipedia and Amazon at number 10.]

And coincidentally, or perhaps not, video streaming website Hulu went live today. Hulu offers a good choice of TV shows and about 132 movies courtesy of Fox & NBC…but only if you live in the U.S.
