The International Exhibition of Inventions is held in Geneva annually and this year runs to April 6. About 1000 inventions and contraptions are displayed each year, with the best ones getting some business deals.

The 2008 Grand Prix was awarded to Incasolution’s CheckTap energy-saving power bar. The CheckTap automatically turns off plugged-in devices when they are not in use, resulting in a 50% power saving.

And then there are inventions like the sure-to-find-a-market air horn can produce a noise up to 108 decibels.
