The International Exhibition of Inventions is held in Geneva annually and this year runs to April 6. About 1000 inventions and contraptions are displayed each year, with the best ones getting some business deals.

The 2008 Grand Prix was awarded to Incasolution’s CheckTap energy-saving power bar. The CheckTap automatically turns off plugged-in devices when they are not in use, resulting in a 50% power saving.
While the CheckTap is well deserving of the top prize, our personal favorite is the self-making bed. Inventor Enrico Berruti deserves some recognition for this outstanding labor-saving device. Photo by AFP/Getty Images.

And then there are inventions like the sure-to-find-a-market air horn can produce a noise up to 108 decibels.

I’d love to try out the self-making bed. It would be nice if it would leave a little mint on your pillow.
I’m very fussy about how my bed is made. I want those corners nice and tight!
