NEC Lui Media Streamer

by GadgetManiac on April 15, 2008

NEC Lui RN500-1CIf you’ve got a few thousand dollars lying around you too can invest in a NEC Lui(Life with Ubiquitous Integrated solutions) “on demand system”. Lui will store your streaming content on the SX700/1G server, and play it back on one of its clients. The SX700/1G runs Vista Home Premium with SP1, has a 1TB HDD for holding content and recording TV (120 hrs), 2 TV tuners and has a Blu-ray player.

Content must be received on DTCP-IP-enabled, DLNA-compatible devices such as the UMPC-like RN500/1C or the notebook-sized RN700/1C or the desktop VR970/MG. Also available over the internet by logging onto the server.

A 4-component solution will cost about $7,300 – not cheap but, at least it’s secure.

If I had a few thousand dollars lying around, I doubt I’d go for this media streamer, no offense to NEC.

$7300? Are they kidding? How many of these things did they actually sell?
